David Rowley has designed numerous international best-selling and award-winning books, including the acclaimed and ground breaking book White Heat by Marco Pierre White. He has worked with various authors including HRH King Charles (formerly The Prince of Wales), Sir Michael Palin, Dame Helen Mirren, Richard Dawkins, Jerry Hall, Manolo Blahnik and Michel Roux Jr.
Design Director based in London at Weidenfeld & Nicolson (Orion Publishing Group) for 12 years, he has extensive experience as a book designer and art director. Since 2008 David has run his own studio in London and Kent, working with major publishers, including Penguin Random House and Hachette UK and for diverse clients around the world.
As an Art Director, David has worked with some of the most outstanding photographers of our time, including David Bailey,
Don McCullin and Lord Snowdon. His own photographs has been used in books, newspapers, magazines and on television. His most familiar photographs are those of HRH King Charles, an official commission by Clarence House (see photography page).
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers and a Member of D&AD. He has judged major awards for the Association of Illustrators (Images 34) and the ‘Travel Photographer of the Year’ award for the British Guild of Travel Writers.
